How is the ratio simplified?
By dividing both sides by their greatest common divisor. That is how 1920 by 1080 becomes 16:9.
Which ratio should I use for video?
16:9 for almost everything on a landscape screen, 9:16 for phone-first vertical video, and 1:1 for square feeds.
Why does my image look stretched?
Because the new width and height do not share the original ratio. Set one side and let the calculator work out the other instead of typing both.
